Oxytocin 10 ME-TRV belongs to the pharmacological group: hormones and their antagonists.
Oxytocin is a synthetic analogue of the peptide hormone of the posterior pituitary gland. Under the influence of oxytocin, the permeability of cell membranes increases, the resting potential decreases, and the excitability of the muscles of the uterus increases. It has a stimulating effect on the smooth muscles of the uterus, increases the contractility of the myometrium, increases the frequency and amplitude of contractions, in high concentrations helps to increase the tone of the uterus.
Oxytocin stimulates milk secretion by increasing prolactin production by the anterior pituitary gland. Reduces myoepithelial cells around the alveoli of the mammary gland, stimulates the flow of milk into the large ducts and sinuses.
The drug is practically devoid of vasoconstrictor and antidiuretic action (only in high doses), does not cause contraction of the muscles of the bladder and intestines.
With subcutaneous and intramuscular administration, the effect of oxytocin on the smooth muscles of the uterus shows within 1-3 minutes, the duration of the pharmacological effect is from 20 to 30 minutes, with intravenous administration in 0.5-1 minutes.
The drug is inactivated in the liver and kidneys. A small amount of oxytocin is excreted in the urine. Half-life in animals is 5-7 minutes.
Oxytocin 10 ME-TRV, according to the degree of the exposure, belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76).
